Background Check Worries: Can My New Employer Access My Past Income Details?

I have recently joined a bank in Singapore as an agency contract position, maybe for 3 to 6 months. Now they are asking me for my PAN number for background verification. Is it possible to get previous income details from our IT department? Can someone advise, please?

Thanks for your reply. I heard through some of my friends working in the income tax department that when a background verification agency requests income details, tax filing information, and PAN number, individuals will provide it to the agency or a third party.
