Hi, I would like to know the salary range/pay package for IT professionals within India. Can somebody provide a software skills-wise salary structure or table based on years of experience? Does anyone have or know any information about the IT/ITES industry salary range/pay package? Please let me know.

Hi Rajendra,

The salary range for IT professionals is based on the core skills/technologies in which they specialize. Other parameters include qualifications, extra certifications from international certifying bodies, and domain knowledge.

In general, for software professionals in web technologies like M/s, Java, etc., the compensation is evaluated by multiplying their years of experience by .9 to 1L per annum. However, I would suggest not relying on this as a perfect calculator.

Anshul is right as it varies depending upon the technology, qualification, etc. For example, the multiplier for Low-Level Systems Programming Engineers is from 1.5 to 2 lakhs per annum.

Project-based companies' pay packets are generally lesser than product-based companies, again due to domain expertise in product-based companies. There are no fixed parameters as such, but it certainly depends on one aspect, i.e., the technology.

As already mentioned by Anshul and Shalini, the salary ranges between 0.90 to 3 lakhs for a fresher with up to 2 years of experience. This range varies depending on the locations, considering factors such as cost of living, area, qualifications, and experience to determine the final salary.

I would like to share some of my ideas regarding the salary packages offered in the IT industry commonly. It is definitely based on the qualifications and technical expertise. A person possessing a highly sought-after educational background (IITs/RECs, etc.) tends to receive a better starting pay than other freshers. However, engineers are given better leverage than graduates from a Computer Science background. These are a few things to keep in mind while offering a competitive pay package.

Generally, it starts from 1.25 lakh per annum for a fresher BE and increases with the number of years of relevant experience. Note that relevant experience is preferred before offers are rolled out. However, this is a general practice that may vary based on the level of competence as the individual progresses in the industry. I hope this input was useful and sheds some light on your doubts.

Salary will be calculated based on the company's level. For example, if the company has 75 employees, they pay at the level of 5 years of experience: 5.5 to 6 lakh per annum. If the company has more than 150 employees, they pay at the level of 5 years of experience: 6 to 8 lakh per annum. For companies with more than 300 employees, the payment is based on the level of 6 years of experience: 8 to 12 lakhs per annum. These market rates apply to Bangalore and Pune.
