Working Hours Dilemma: Should Our IT Firm Follow Head Office or State Timings?

InayatDesai
I am working with an IT firm. I have a query regarding the working hours. Can working hours be the same as the Head Office, from where our salary gets processed, as we have offices in multiple states, or should it be state-wise? In terms of work operations/business nature, it is the same across states. Please help with your inputs from the compliance perspective. Thanks in advance.

Dear Sandeep,

First, you need to follow state rules for working hours. If your head office working hours are less than the state rules, then it's up to management to decide.

Thanks,
Sandeep

Since your organization is spread across the country in several places, such as states, you have to adhere to both the principles of the corporate office and the offices in the states. In this case, find a common timing that can work for everyone, even though the office hours may not vary significantly. In some states, the office may start functioning at 9 am, while in others, it may be 10 am, resulting in a maximum variation of 2 hours. Adjust the timing accordingly. Additionally, consider the timings for the winter season, as states in the South are not as susceptible to cold winds as the northern states.

Best of luck...
