Seeking Career Advice: Can I Transition from HR Compliance to a Generalist Role?

Deepak HR prof
I'm an HR professional with 3 years of experience in an MNC company, working as an HR compliance executive. I have experience dealing with CLRA acts, meeting factory inspectors, maintaining statutory compliances at client sites, and all related activities. I do not have experience in recruitment and HR generalist activities. My qualification is an MBA in HR.

Seeking Career Advice

Kindly advise me on what kind of HR profile would suit me as I am looking for a job change. Do I have opportunities in HR generalist roles because there are very limited openings in HR compliance? Seniors, please share your valuable advice.

Thanks in advance!

I would suggest you focus on HR compliance or legislation only, as you have good experience in that area. If you are interested in transitioning to recruitment or a generalist profile, you can start by working with a reputable consultancy in a major city to strengthen your fundamentals. Once you have done that, you can showcase your skills and strengths. I hope this advice is helpful to you.

Hi Shipra Sharma,

Thank you for your valuable input. What are all the qualities to become an HR generalist? If I get into consultancy, I may gain very important experience in recruitment. How long can I work there to gain recruitment experience? Moreover, in consultancy, will they consider me as a fresher (on a salary basis to pay me a fresher's salary) or as an experienced one.
