Comprehensive Guide to TDS Deduction and PT Returns for Small Businesses

Nancy Roy
I am working in a small startup company of 12 people, out of which only 3 people are subject to Tax deduction. How can we handle the TDS and PT online? I am responsible for managing the payroll.

Hi,

Regarding online PT returns, you should have PT enrollment and they would have given you login access. Once you log in, you can submit returns as well as payment.

Regarding the TDS, you should deduct the amount from the employees, and you can pay from the bank to the income tax account using form ITNS 280, or you can even make payments online using the TIN-NSDL website. For any clarification, you can reach me.

For a CTC of 2.8 Lac, there won't be any TDS. For 5.0 & 7.2 Lac, there are some processes to follow to deduct TDS, such as total income, PT deduction, HRA exemption, conveyance allowance exemption, medical allowance exemption, savings under 80C, 80D, etc. Then you may have to arrive at taxable income.
