Do You Really Need a Professional HR Degree to Succeed in HR Roles? Seeking Insights from Fellow HR Professionals

Hi everyone, I am working as a Manager-HR in a leading pharmaceutical company. I have a query from all of my colleagues. Is it necessary to have a professional HR degree for an HR job? I am just a BA graduate but have been working as an HR manager for the last 2 years. I have already been working with this organization for the past 8 years, and they transferred me to the human resource division based on my skills and knowledge.

HR professional degree will enable you to learn the theory of all HR activities. So, do try and qualify yourself in various subjects of HR. By working in HR, you are gaining practical experience. In two years, you would have learned a lot on the job. Keep it up and aim for HR qualifications from reputed institutions.

The Importance of HR Professional Courses

The HR Professional courses will give you the theory of all the HR areas in a nutshell. As you are already working in the field, you would know where the practicality of the same is needed or done. Practical experience will never beat theoretical knowledge, but theory will enhance your thinking sphere to accommodate more than what is done only in one company. So, try to get the qualification; learning will only add to your knowledge, and there are no adverse side effects of studying.

If you do not have a professional qualification, it may be an obstacle in climbing the ladder of hierarchy. And if you have one, it does not ensure you will climb surely to the top. Again, it's your own experience and confidence level that matter more. A professional qualification may add weightage to your profile, that's all.
