Is My Employer Liable if a Company-Recommended Safety App Fails After Hours?

R-gupta
Greetings,

I work with a company that has offices all over India. My employer is encouraging all its staff members to sign up for a mobile personal safety application (which acts like an SOS in emergencies) that can be used outside of office hours. My question is, if this application fails to perform as required, does my employer become liable under any applicable laws?

Thanks
nathrao
He will not be liable for the failure of the app.

From what I understand, the employer is simply offering voluntary help for security after working hours. Is the employer the manufacturer or agent for such apps?

Probably, he should issue a disclaimer stating that his idea is only intended to be helpful and that he will not be liable.
