Various hazards associated with confined spaces include electrical shock due to a wet or moist surface. The chance of electrical shock is higher in high voltage situations, but when the voltage is lower, the risk of serious electrical shock decreases.

The use of a 24-volt light satisfies the purpose of illumination, similar to other voltage lighting. Additionally, according to Section 36A(a) of the Factories Act, 1948, no portable electric light or any other electric appliance with a voltage exceeding twenty-four volts should be used inside any chamber, tank, vat, pit, pipe, flue, or other confined space unless adequate safety devices are provided.
