Resignation Timing Dilemma: How to Determine the Effective Date When Holidays Are Involved?

Hi,

My query is, if someone sends a resignation letter on August 14, 2015, stating that their last day of work would be August 15, 2015, as August 15, 2015, is Independence Day and the 16th is a Sunday, what would be the effective date of resignation? Please assist me in this scenario.

Praket - What is your company policy? Some state it upfront and unequivocally that any relieving will happen on the said day, and if the said day is a holiday, the prior or next working day.

You are allowing him to leave without notice?
If yes, then what difference will the final date make?

Last date would be 14 August because 15th and 16th August are holidays, so the last working day was 14th August.
