How Can I Prove My Employment When My First Company No Longer Exists?

balavanigun
I have worked in a company as a system admin almost 4 years back, and that was my first company. They provided the first 6 months' salary as direct cash, and after that, they created a bank account and credited my salary to the bank account. Due to heavy losses, they planned to reduce the number of employees and close the company. So I moved out of that company and joined another company, where I worked for 3 years. When joining the new company, the HR from my previous company sent a mail confirmation for the background verification as requested by the new company. However, now they have literally closed the company, ramped all the servers, but the company website is still online, and they still have space in the famous IT tech park. Only the Managing Director is running the company without any employees.

Current Background Verification Issues

Now, I am planning to join a new company. During the background verification of my first company, I am facing the following issues:

1. There are no employees working in that company right now (HR, etc.) - Since the new company is asking for confirmation from HR for background verification, I informed them that the company has been closed.

However, they are conducting the background verification through a third party and stated, "The company is still open in the IT park mentioned," and the company website is still online, but they cannot reach the contact numbers provided on the website.

Requested Documentation

To confirm my one-year tenure at that company, they have requested the following details:

1) One-year bank statement - Since the first six months' salary was provided in cash, I am unable to provide a one-year bank statement; I only have a six-month statement.

2) They are requesting email confirmation from my first company - Since there are no employees in the company, it is not possible to provide email communication/confirmation from HR.

Kindly advise me on how to resolve this issue.

Since your company is closed down, the only option you have left is to personally visit the existing company in the IT park and seek advice and help on the same.

Secondly, upon having a word with the company's director, you can ask them to specify in the email that the company's policy was on a cash basis for the first 6 months, and they transferred the same to a bank account basis.
