Am I Eligible for Gratuity If My Notice Period Ends on My 5-Year Work Anniversary?

Hi,

I am going to complete my notice period and 5 years of service on the same day. Will I be eligible to receive gratuity? My colleagues have told me that "the notice period cannot be included in the calculation for gratuity." I am a full-time employee.

Dear Mr. Sankar,

Notice period has nothing to do with your gratuity. If you have enough service, you will be eligible for gratuity.

When you have been paid a salary for up to 5 years (inclusive of your notice period), you are eligible for gratuity.

For gratuity, it is not required to complete 5 complete years; the requirement is to complete 4 years and 240 days. Hence, you are eligible for gratuity, my dear.

Sandeep
