Facing Unexpected Job Loss in HR: How Should I Navigate This Situation?

ritu788@Gmail.com
Dear Sir,

Please help me. I am working in the manufacturing industry in the HR department since March 2015, but my confirmation has not been completed yet. Yesterday, the company's Group Chief HR & MD informed me that they don't have a vacancy, so I have to be released within 8 days. They haven't provided any specific reason for why they are letting me go, just citing the lack of vacancies as the reason.

I am at a loss for what to do. I have been the best performer since the day I joined, and now I feel hopeless.

Please advise me on what steps I can take. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi,

Please check your offer letter clause to see if it states that during the probation period, management can relieve the employee by giving notice. If this is the case, then they have the authority to do so.

As for my concern, please consider looking after your future opportunities...

Understanding Probationary Employment

As per Model Standing Orders, a "probationer" is a workman who is provisionally employed to fill a permanent vacancy in a post and has not completed three months' service therein. If a permanent employee is employed as a probationer in a new post, he may, at any time during the probationary period of three months, be reverted to his old permanent post.

How long is the probation period that you have agreed to? If your appointment letter mentions that during the time of probation, if the company finds your services unsatisfactory, they will relieve you in a month or something similar, then I am sorry to say you should look for another job.

You can always approach the Labour Court if you feel the reason is not justified. However, it will be a long fight, which requires time, money, and energy.

Recommendation and Advice

My recommendation and advice would be to look for another job and move on. Views of seniors are welcomed. Hope this helps.

Thanks,
