Should I Accept an Off-Roll HR Trainee Offer? Need Advice on Urgent Decision

kisberfelver
Hi Seniors, I have completed an MBA in HRM and have 10 months of work experience. The first 6 months were spent as a recruiter in an NGO, and the following 4 months as a trainee in a logistics firm.

Offer as HR Trainee

I have been offered a position as an HR Trainee on an off-roll basis in a manufacturing concern. I would like to know whether I should accept or reject this offer. I am also unsure about the company placing me off-roll for a year and then considering transitioning me to on-roll based on my performance. Additionally, the company contacted me directly, rather than through a consultancy. Is it advisable to accept this offer? Also, I am curious if this experience will be considered valid after one year, should I decide to move to another company.

Please help. This is urgent as I need to join within 2 days. I am eagerly awaiting your responses.

Thanks & Regards

Hi,

When considering whether to be on-roll or off-roll, the most important factor is how much you will learn in that position. It is crucial to prioritize knowledge over the type of job. From my perspective, the next company will definitely value your experience.

Thank you.

Dear All,

Is it legal to put some employees off-roll? Off-roll employees are not eligible for any benefits such as EPF, ESIC, bonus, and leave. Is this correct? Please reply.

Hi Kisberfelver, thanks for your query regarding joining Mfg. Co. on off-roll. As our Shri Ravi mentioned, it is a good opportunity to join a Mfg. Co. even as a Trainee off-roll. Since you are at the beginning of your career, you can progress with good performance. You can learn all HR work in a Mfg. setup. You will deal with workers, employees, colleagues, peers, seniors, all government officials, inspectors, etc., and get a chance to solve daily problems of the HR & Admin Department. This experience will be recognized everywhere.

Good luck and best wishes in all your HR work.

Thanks and regards,

Hello, you have 10 months of experience and have held 2 jobs during this time. Now, you have this opportunity in the manufacturing sector for a year. While I agree with other members that experience in the manufacturing sector is always preferable for your career, please note that you have to work very hard to get absorbed without fail. There's no second option for you. Otherwise, the worst-case scenario would be having 3 jobs in approximately 2 years. Being in HR, you should realize the consequences of such a profile for your fourth job interviews. Hope you understand the point.

All the best.

Regards,
TS
