Is SAP Essential for HR Growth? Seeking Advice from Experienced Professionals

First of all, thank you all for your support. I have a total of 1 year of experience in HR and I gained an understanding of SAP from this site. Now, I have a query: Is SAP necessary for every HR professional? Do HR professionals working in recruitment, training, and performance need SAP for future growth?

Dear Manish,

SAP is not required for every HR professional, as only a few companies have implemented the ERP system in their organization so far. However, having the skill to work with ERP is an extra advantage, which in turn enhances your skills.

In SAP ERP, you are required to perform all HR functions within the same system. The HR module of the system is structured to capture all functions, from MPP to Exit.

SAP stands for S A P. It is only an additional skill set. It represents ERP, i.e., Enterprise Resource Planning. There are others as well, like Oracle, Baan, Peoplesoft, etc. If you have this additional skill set, it's good.

Thanks, everybody. This is something I also wanted to know. Can somebody please tell me where this can be learned in Delhi? What I mean is whether it is possible to learn it independently or is it only possible to know it by working in a company. Thanks in advance.

SAP, no doubt, is the in-thing, and people are doing really well in this field. But for this, there are certain things you need to know.

I'm not sure about institutes in Delhi, but in Hyderabad, there are institutes mushrooming every day. OK, SAP is an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) package, which is an all-inclusive package.

First of all, any person needs to have a good amount of domain knowledge. Then, the candidate should have done a SAP course, which can be completed in 1-3 months and costs between Rs. 10,000 - 1.5 lakhs.

There are only a few institutes certified by SAP, which is a Germany-based company. It's Siemens in Hyderabad, Genovate in Pune, and a few others. I'm not sure about Delhi.

Getting a job in this field is not easy as it's a vicious circle - you need to have completed 1 implementation cycle in any company, and only then will people consider you. To complete this, you need to get a job. But yes, I believe hard work does pay off, so if you're really interested, you can plunge into it.

Besides, what is the normal market trend? Companies do take you if you pay them 1.5 to 3 lakhs. So please search for information from the real market rather than trying on these sites. That will be a lot more beneficial, and every city has a different trend.

Major jobs are available in Pune, Noida, Kolkata, and Bangalore.
