Stuck Without a Raise for 2 Years: How Should I Approach Asking for a Salary Increase?

I have been working in my organization for the past 2 years without any salary increment. Now, I am considering asking for a raise before making any decisions. Can you help me with this?

Does your organization have any laid down increment policy?

What is the pay scale offered to you in the offer letter? If nothing is specified anywhere about an increment, there is no harm in politely asking for one. Is the case the same for all employees?

Hi, as it has already been 2 years and you have not yet received the increment, have a discussion with the management about the reasons for not receiving the increment. Later, you can ask for the increment.

Before commenting on the same, I would like to know if you have a performance appraisal system within the organization and how your compensation is mapped to your performance. Do you have a review mechanism in place? If yes, please find out the review scores with your line manager and HR point of contact. That should help you understand the reason for no hike, no revision of pay scale, or discuss further on the hike.
