Calculating Mandays: How Do You Factor in Overtime for Different Work Hours?

saqibhse
Dear sir,

Kindly tell me, in my company, there are 50 employees, and their working hours are 8. However, sometimes some of them work more, which is not more than one hour each. Therefore, some of them work 9 hours, which counts as their overtime. For example, if 35 workers worked 8 hours in a day and the remaining 15 workers worked 9 hours in a day, how can we calculate mandays?

Thank you.

Dear Saqibhse,

If 35 people worked for 8 hours, it would be 35 man-days. If 15 people worked for 9 hours, it would be 15 x 9 / 8 = 16.875 man-days (Total 35 + 16.875 = 51.875 man-days).

Man-days calculation for annual leave.
If 35 staff members work, how many man-days are needed?

Eight hours of work is considered a man-day. By calculating the total number of hours and dividing it by eight, the man-days can be determined.

To calculate mandays, follow the steps below:

Arrive at the number of days worked by the company: total days in the month minus weekends and national holidays. Calculate the worked days by the company as the total number of employees minus the number of leaves taken.

For example, in Jan '22, there are 31 days minus 10 weekends and 1 national holiday, which equals 20 working days.

Mandays = 20 * (total number of employees) - (number of leaves taken) = 23300.
