Seeking Ideas for Women’s Development Activities in CSR Project – Any Suggestions?

Sayali Sonawane
Dear Sir,

I am currently working on a project of CSR in my company. For that, I need to conduct a small activity related to women's development. Could you please suggest some activities?

Thank you.

Dear Sayali,

You will arrange a couple of activities regarding women's development or empowerment such as:

1. To arrange some street plays.
2. To conduct presentations that will help women's development.
3. To present some successful or struggling stories.

Thank you.

Target Areas for CSR Activities

Please suggest which is the target area for this activity: Economically weak zones (Slums), Educationally weak zones (Rural areas), Ethically weak zones (Red light areas), or Emotionally weak zones (Urban areas)?

You can arrange some "self-defense demonstrations" for girls in schools or residential areas. You can also arrange a "Health awareness program" and distribute some basic medicines, etc., to rural area ladies or garbage collector ladies. You can arrange some "Hobby Classes" for housewives, which can also be used as a little earning opportunity for them.

Best Regards,

Thank you so much for your valuable replies. My target areas are economically weak zones, slum areas, and educationally weak zones (rural areas). I want a small activity that can be conducted within a day or two as this is a very initial activity for the company. I am okay with giving a seminar on topics that will be very useful for them.

Thank you.

Hi Sayali,

If you are from the weaker sections of society, you can plan the following:
1. Educational programs to educate women from weaker sections of society about various Central/State Government schemes for self-employment and other financial benefits.
2. Awareness of various laws pertaining to women.
3. Computer literacy programs for girls who have studied minimum up to SSC.
4. As suggested by Mr. Amod, health awareness, diet, and personal hygiene awareness programs.

Regards,
Sumeet

Instead of just a seminar, you should provide some training sessions and useful information. I am not sure the program would be successful if it does not go beyond lectures. I am sure you have allocated a budget for the activity.

Slum areas are rarely economically weak, and they are surely more aware of government schemes than other people. Rural areas are not as developed as compared to slums. It would be good to plan a visit to a small village nearby and do something there. In our company, we donated a small library to a remote village school last year. It was not only beneficial for the school but also a good experience for our employees.

I suggest getting in touch with an NGO in the respective area and field, and they can suggest and arrange something like this for you.
