Considering a Move from US IT Recruitment to Internal HR: What Skills or Courses Do I Need?

rajlaxmi.rwc@gmail.com
Hello Sir,

Currently, I am working as a US IT Recruiter with 3 years of experience. Now, I am planning to shift to Internal HR, and I have some concerns about it.

1) Do I need to take some HR courses?
2) Should I do an SAP course?

I need your guidance.

Hey, if you want to switch your career from Recruitment to HR Generalist, then you have to be strong in the Generalist part. For that, you may have to learn a lot. If required, you can attend some courses, or you will get sufficient knowledge on this portal as well. There are many good books to refer to.

SAP will add weightage to your career, but for that, you should have good knowledge in HR Generalist.

Dear Rajlaxmi,

What is your highest qualification? If it is an MBA, then you should be aware of the activities and responsibilities involved in HR operations. There is no need to take any additional courses. If the company is using SAP software, internal training will be provided to you.

Yes, if you have an MBA in HR, you don't need to take any additional courses to get involved in HR operations. However, pursuing different HR courses can definitely help you develop and enhance your professional skills. In HR operations, it is essential to understand the various processes involved. These processes are often covered in the books you studied during your master's degree program.

It's worth noting that most companies follow similar practices in their operations based on their business models and organizational cultures.
