Navigating VRS in PSU: Which Designation Should I Use When Applying?

GhaleBS
Hi, I am working at PSU as AGM-Engineering & Project (as per appointment) since 2007. Now, I have been transferred to AGM-Pharma Marketing (designation as per salary slip). However, the company has assigned me a functional job as a "Medical Representative" in the Northeast of India, where the company has not had an office or establishment for the last 18 months. Being a mechanical engineer with 25 years of experience, I have found it challenging to adjust to the non-core area of medicine sales from home, meeting doctors, and securing sales orders, etc.

After a strenuous struggle, I have decided to apply for VRS. I would appreciate your advice on what designation I should apply for VRS - the designation as per the appointment letter, the present salary slip designation (where I have never worked or been assigned responsibilities as AGM-Pharma Marketing), or the current functional responsibility as a "Medical Representative." Please guide me as I no longer trust the company, considering their ability to use public funds to influence decisions against employees.

The post of AGM must have been on promotion over the years. Kindly correct me if I am wrong.

What was the designation given to you in the appointment letter? Otherwise, in VRS application, give your position as per the appointment letter but you can add currently working as AGM - Pharma Marketing. You need to give more details. When did you join the PSU? What was your appointment? Did you get promotions? What is your present position? Functional duties are a different thing.

I joined in 2007 as AGM-Engineering & Projects (the designation mentioned in the appointment letter). Yes, I am due for a promotion. Ok, I can apply for VRS as AGM-Engineering & Projects, as per the appointment letter. Currently, I am designated as AGM-Pharma Marketing, but for the last 18 months, I have never worked or discharged duties as AGM-Pharma Marketing (no AGM-Pharma Marketing responsibilities were given). Though the designation on the salary slips is AGM-Pharma Marketing, the company forced me to work as a "Medical Representative," a lower position in pharma marketing. With due respect to the company, I worked as a "Medical Rep."

My present designation as per the salary slip is AGM-Pharma Marketing. However, my functional responsibility is as a "Medical Representative," posted in the NE region of India. I hope this clarifies the situation.

Please share when your designation changed from AGM P&E to AGM Marketing and why it changed. Were you consulted before that change?

While joining the PSU in 2007, you should have checked the future prospects of the company because manufacturing and selling medicines will no longer be a PSU activity in the future.
