Laid Off Without Notice: Can I Take Legal Action for Unpaid Salary in Chennai?

Hi all, I worked in an online grocery company as a Category Manager. Unfortunately, my employer closed down the business overnight without providing any prior notice. They have not honored the 2-month salary as agreed upon in the offer letter. I worked for 8 months and earned close to 40K. Despite reaching out via email and phone calls to the CEO, HR, and Ops Head, I have not received any response. It has come to my attention that they are reopening the business under a different name. Approximately 150 employees have lost their jobs.

I am seeking advice on whether I am eligible to pursue this matter through the Labour court and what kind of compensation I may be entitled to. According to my offer letter, I am owed two months' pay. I am based in Chennai and would appreciate guidance on the legal actions I can take.

Despite strict laws on shutdowns, some owners behave like this—showing no regard for the livelihood of employees.
