Feeling Stuck: How Do I Ask for a Raise After a Year Without Breaking Promises?

sonali nath
I am working in an IT company, and I have completed 1 year this month. At the time of the interview, I asked for the desired salary, but my employer said, "We will see your performance first for 6 months." Now it's been one year, and there have been no increment intimations from the employer. What should I do? I feel hesitant to ask, and many times I have thought to send an email, but I can't. Please help. I am also receiving nice offers, but I want to continue with this company.

Catch the director when they are relaxed or in a good mood. Sometimes, when the company has a significant achievement, they may be psychologically tuned to receive your suggestions. Keep a watch out for an opportune moment and then broach the subject.

Is there any particular performance evaluation process in your company? If yes, then you should fill out the performance evaluation form and send it to the directors with a soft reminder. If not, you should send a formal email to them, informing them about your performance review time.
