Struggling with Time Management? How Can I Organize and Finish Work Efficiently?

sonia_valley
Hi,

Could someone help me with a practical and simple way of time management? I am unable to finish any work on time. I have received this feedback from others, and I also think the same. Please let me know how to organize things and finish work in a smart way (I am a hard worker).

I am a young aspirant looking forward to coming up with a lot of HR initiatives in my company. I want to make a visible difference for the employees and my company. I require your inputs.

Sonia

Hi Sonia,

Time management is very crucial, especially for today's corporate world. People are expected to multitask at any moment. I am sharing some of the tips that I follow to finish my work far ahead of time.

1. When there are multiple tasks that you have to perform, list them down. For this, you need to have a journal. After writing them, prioritize (which has to be completed first and which next). Have the most urgent work done first. For knowing this, you can talk to your superior (or to the person who assigns you your daily tasks).

2. Against each action item, write how much time is estimated to complete. For example, if task X takes 2 hours to complete according to your estimation, put it down against that.

3. Start working on it aiming to finish it half an hour earlier.

4. After you finish every task for a day, tick it off. Also, you can write down the actual time taken to complete each task. This will help you to compare your estimated time versus the actual time for each task. The unticked ones will push you to finish them within the specific time.

5. Do not postpone your work to the next day unless it is unavoidable.

6. Don't get distracted while doing your work. When something comes in the middle of your work, immediately put it down in your journal, and if it is a priority, then take it up as the next one from the current task. This will help you to keep your focus, and putting it down on paper will help you not to miss any assigned tasks.

Hope this helps you. All the best :)
