Transitioning to a Steel Plant: What Statutory Returns Should I Know About?

kvenuhr@gmail.com
Dear All,

I am working at Marine Diesel Services Company and will soon be transitioning to a Steel Plant. I am seeking information on the statutory returns required in plants or factories. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could share this information.

I advise you to read the Factories Act, WC Act, ESIC, and EPF Acts. This will give you a basic idea. Apart from this, try to list out all acts that have a direct bearing on your area of activity. Computerize these lists – formats, frequencies, addressees. This kind of homework will put you on a sound footing. Once you do some homework, you will have more doubts, and many things will become clear. Specific doubts can easily be cleared by experienced HR experts in the forum. One may not know everything, but once you know where to get information, clarification, and the latest legal rulings on the subject, your job will become easier. Try to maintain a general book with information, website addresses, references to the latest policy directives, etc., for your daily work.

Mr. NathRao,

Thanks for your valuable suggestions.

Query:
a) Is there any statutory requirement that a factory/plant has to engage the apprentices at a particular frequency?
b) If no apprentices are engaged, is there any requirement to file any returns under the Act?

Regards,
