Seeking Immediate Relieving After a Work-Related Injury: How to Approach HR for Support

LAXMI BASKAR
Hi all, I am working in a reputed company in the BPO industry, and the company has been providing me with a cab facility since I joined in October 2013. While pursuing my job, I met with a cab accident in October 2014, resulting in major sufferings such as a head injury, epicondyle fracture, and nerve compression due to glass pieces penetrating my left hand at the elbow. The company processed insurance for surgeries and medical treatment, and my physician provided me with a medical leave certificate until July 2015. I received paid leave in the form of industry injury leave from the date of the accident until April 2015.

I have claimed half of the medical bills, which were reimbursed by the company. Even though my treatment is not yet complete, I am not interested in continuing in this job. If I continue to receive leaves, I believe I cannot continue, and I do not wish to commit further to the company. Still pending are my leaves for May 2015 and some reimbursements. I wish to be relieved from the company immediately with the following: current month's salary, reimbursements, relieving order, and assurance of a positive background verification (as the injury leave and accident were due to the company's fault). How can I proceed with my employer and HR to obtain immediate relieving?

Thank you.

On observing your state of affairs, on the whole, we would suggest you not to quit unless you have fully recovered from your injury and recover your expenses, medical leave from the company. Maybe you are right from your angle, but when you resign, they may not continue the support which they are extending during your employment. Think twice before you take any firm decision.
