Expenses for books and periodicals will be considered as business expenses only if the invoices show that the books & periodicals purchased were related to business area of the individual who claims them.

You have not given enough details to give you a precise answer. "Expenses on subscription to magazine and journals are specifically allowed for employees in industries that require them to keep abreast of developments in various areas on a day-to-day basis. On the other hand, entertainment expenditure limits are also allowed for employees who have to interact with different people in the course of their job and hence have to incur expenses on items on this front." I was in the process of framing a reimbursement Policy (books & Periodicals) for providing tax benefit to high salaried employees and was looking for the purpose & benefits of this policy & claimable items under the same.
