Confused About Two ESI Accounts? How to Resolve Duplicate Registrations

Anish Jetti
Hi Everyone, I am Anish, working as an HR in a private organization. I joined the company two months ago. During the joining formalities, I requested the employer to continue with my old ESI. However, I did not fill out any ESI forms at that time. Now, I have noticed that there are two ESI accounts under my name reflecting on the ESI website. Is it possible for an ESI account to be created without submitting Form-1 since I did not do so? Additionally, could you please advise me on the process to delete my new account so that I can stick with my old one?

Thank you.

Sir, in ESIC, most of the registration work of insured persons is being done online. Therefore, if you are not finding any option on the ESIC website, you may, in my opinion, contact your concerned Branch Office of ESIC regarding the matter.

As the ESIC department is working towards paperless work, employees do not need to fill Form-1. Your HR or ESIC consultant can generate your insurance number through the portal. During your joining formalities, you should provide your previous insurance number to the current company so they can continue with the same number, ensuring continuity of service for ESIC benefits.

Moreover, you can also provide your earlier insurance number to the current company as there is a provision to transfer your ESIC contributions to your previous insurance number. This means you are eligible to avail benefits under the ESIS Act.
