Is It Okay to Leave CTC Out of Salary Slips? Seeking Clarity on HR Practices

Dear all,

I am working with a small IT company as an HR Executive. Recently, there have been some amendments that were requested by my director to be made in the salary slips of employees. Everything has been done as instructed, but the CTC (Cost to Company) is not mentioned in the salary slip. He has mentioned not to include CTC in the salary slip but to just state the take-home salary of employees.

Can you please clarify whether it is not necessary to include CTC in the salary slip?

Salary slip contains the gross salary earned during the month and the deductions of the month with net pay. CTC is mentioned only on the appointment letter and/or salary revision letters.

CTC is not included in the salary slip. The salary slip is meant to display monthly payment details. For CTC, a separate salary structure needs to be prepared. In addition to what Saji has suggested, you can include PF, ESIC number, bank account number, number of days present, leave balance, designation, department, etc., on the payslip.
