Curious About Professional Tax Deductions: Is There Age Relaxation in Madhya Pradesh?

z_sachinkhare
Dear Seniors,

Good morning!

I have a little doubt about Professional Tax deduction. Can anyone please clarify if there is any age relaxation for Professional Tax deduction in Madhya Pradesh or any other state in India?

Please help me.

Thanks & Regards,
Aruna patil
Hello Sachin,

Professional tax deduction depends on an individual's income slab, not on age. Every state government has different slabs for deducting professional tax, and these are the same for individuals of all age levels.

Thank you.

Professional Tax Exemption Based on Age

Professional Tax is a tax imposed by the State Government, and each State Government has its own law in this regard. The rate of tax and exemptions differ in every state.

Your question pertains to the exemption of tax based on age criteria. In Maharashtra and Karnataka, individuals aged above 65 years are exempt from Professional Tax. Similar provisions may exist in other states, although I am not fully aware of them. It is expected that members from each state contribute, but based on my recollection, every state has a provision where senior citizens are exempt from professional tax.

Thank you.

In Maharashtra, a physically handicapped person with a certain percentage of disability is exempted from P Tax. Other states may have similar rules in place.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance or information.

Dear Shrikant_pra,

Thanks for your contribution. You are right. In almost all states where there is a Professional Tax Law, there is an exemption on Professional Tax for handicapped persons with a certain percentage of disabilities.

I did not touch upon this subject since the question is about exemptions based on age factors, and I wish to respond to the point.
