Lost PF Records Due to Fire in 1998: How Can I Claim My Amount with Only DOJ and DOL?

nitishmishra1987@gmail.com
If we were working in any company in 1998 and due to a fire, the company ceased operations and all documents were destroyed in the fire. I want to claim my PF amount. What should I do to find out the PF amount as we have the date of joining (DOJ) and date of leaving (DOL)?

You need to submit Form 19 & Form 10C for pension with your EPF Office. You are required to get a signature from a Gazetted officer in the place where the employer signs and submits, in order to claim your EPF Accrual.

If your company has closed, the PF office should have that information. You should apply as suggested by Jagat. Just check which form is applicable to you - 10C or 10D. You can also get your form attested by the bank manager.

If you know the Establishment code and your PF number, it should be easy for you to check your PF account online on the portal. Once you are able to view it, you will know the balance and can proceed to fill in Form 19 & 10C with the necessary details and visit the nearest SBI Bank. Have the forms attested by the Bank Manager and then meet the Accounts Officer of your concerned group (to which your company belongs) at the Regional PF Office where your company remits PF.

This process may be a bit tedious and time-consuming, but I have heard of several cases being successfully resolved in this manner. I encourage you to give it a try and update us on the outcome.
