Employee Engagement Challenges in Indian Manufacturing: What Are the Common HR Struggles?

pgp30175
Can somebody tell me about the prevailing employee engagement issues the HR department generally comes across, specifically in the Indian Manufacturing sector?

In the Indian scenario, there is nothing new about what employees think about employee engagement. They believe that engagement activities are only the party, outing, birthday celebration, etc. However, it is HR's responsibility to help people understand what exactly employee engagement entails during the induction phase and all the types of activities that the company provides under this category. Yes, it is a time-consuming process, especially for older sectors. There should be a clear message about what employee engagement truly means.

Understanding Employee Engagement

"Employee engagement is a workplace approach designed to ensure that employees are committed to their organization's goals and values, motivated to contribute to organizational success, and able, at the same time, to enhance their own sense of well-being."

Dear seniors,

I am working in a manufacturing plant. Please tell me what type of engagement activities are required in the plant that can help to motivate the employees and ensure that they enjoy the activities.

Thank you

I would also like to know why you ask such a question because without more info, it is impossible to provide a valuable answer.

As per my opinion for the manufacturing industry, HR should invite the family members of workers/employees and plan an event for them. Some competitions for employees' children should be real fun. The event should end with dinner/snacks. This will help the organization greatly by emotionally involving their staff. Also, you may plan outdoor games/competitions like a cricket tournament, volleyball tournament, etc. You may plan a picnic on Sunday for them.

I strongly feel that this is the role of the HR department to help workers/employees reduce stress.

I agree with BMKANAY's reply. At the plant level, more or fewer employees are not released at their shift timings. Therefore, employee engagement due to shifts is quite difficult to manage. You need to take the help of the line managers at the location in aligning employees after shifts for their engagement.

Monthly Engagement Events

You can also hold a monthly engagement event in which you reward some employees for their achievements during the month to motivate other employees for higher productivity. Holding a small party with some activities, etc., can also be beneficial.
