Management Case Study No.1

The manager of a large corporation had a heart attack, and the doctor advised him to spend several weeks on a farm to relax.

He went to the farm and, after a couple of days, felt very bored. He then asked the farmer to give him some work to do. The farmer instructed him to clean the cows' manure. The farmer believed that for someone accustomed to a sedentary office job in the city, it would take over a week to complete the task. However, to his surprise, the manager finished the job in less than a day.

The following day, the farmer assigned the manager a more challenging task: to decapitate 500 chickens. The farmer was convinced that the manager would not be able to accomplish this task, yet by the end of the day, it was completed. The next morning, with most farm chores completed, the farmer asked the manager to separate a bag of potatoes into two boxes: one for small potatoes and one for large potatoes. At the end of the day, the farmer noticed that the manager was sitting in front of the bag of potatoes, but the two boxes remained empty. Perplexed, the farmer asked the manager, "How is it that you managed the difficult tasks in the first days, but now you struggle with this simple task?"

The manager replied, "Throughout my life, I have been handling difficult situations and menial tasks, but making decisions is a whole new challenge!"

Management Case Study No.2

A man walked into a pet shop to purchase a parrot. The shop owner pointed to three identical parrots on a perch and mentioned, "The parrot on the left costs $500." Curious, the man inquired, "Why does that parrot cost so much?" The shop owner explained, "Well, that parrot is skilled in computer usage."

Inquiring about the next parrot, the man discovered it cost $1,000 because it possessed the same abilities as the first parrot and was proficient in using the UNIX operating system.

The man's interest piqued, he asked about the third parrot, priced at $2,000. Naturally, he asked, "What can this parrot do?" To which the shop owner responded, "Honestly, I have never seen it perform any task, but the other two refer to it as their boss!"
