How Can I Improve My HR Skills to Advance My Career? Seeking Your Advice!

vijayakrishna
Hi guys,

This is Vijay, working as a Technical Recruiter in a US-based incorporated firm. I have an MBA in Finance and Marketing. Fortunately, I got a break in the HR field. However, I am aware that I lack some HR skills. Please give suggestions on how to improve those skills.

I want to pursue my career in the HR field itself. If anyone has any documents or suggestions, please pass them on to me. You can email me any information you have at hivijay123@yahoo.co.in.

Regards, Vijay.

Hi Vijay,

I am a student with absolutely no experience in the field, and my graduate course has dedicated only one semester for the basic touch-up on HRM, while for subjects like Marketing and Finance, nearly 3-4 semesters have been dedicated.

Reading the articles on this site proves to be a very helpful exercise in understanding the existing practices, issues, and getting to know the various terms. Many queries get posted on the forums, which may well be related to your work too. Skills can be developed and harnessed through the right information and mentoring. This site would provide you with both.

Regards,
Vinisha

Hi Vijay & Vinisha!

It was pleasant to see your eagerness in the field of HR. For Vijay specifically, I can say that being a Recruiter in the IT segment is a very interesting and demanding job. It calls for both marketing and HR skill sets from a recruiter. Keep a close vigil on events in your segment of organizations. Be a regular follower of this site and improve your knowledge of IT skills and technologies. It will help you stay updated and greatly assist in delivering results on time.

It would be easier for me to guide you if you send me details of your job description and responsibilities.
