Choosing the Right MBA: Should a Sales Manager Opt for Marketing or HR to Boost His Career?

visat
Hello sir, My Sales manager is a B.Com graduate, and he is 42 now. He has been in our company for over 8 years. He is now considering a job change to advance his career, especially looking to work in Corporates. To achieve this, he is contemplating pursuing an MBA that would qualify him for roles in such companies.

Seeking Suggestions for MBA Specialization

I seek your valuable suggestions on which MBA specialization could complement his previous qualification and experience while meeting industry demands (e.g., HR, Marketing, Finance, etc.). Would pursuing Marketing be beneficial since he already has experience in sales? On the other hand, he is also considering HR due to its perceived suitability, considering it may not involve as many complex subjects as Finance.

I appreciate your response.

Dear Visat,

Please inform him to check the XLRI side as they offer distance learning courses, which are currently in high demand.

It's advisable to opt for Executive MBAs from some reputed 1st-tier colleges. HR specialization does not mean that you only have to study HR subjects. It would cover all subjects, but the emphasis would be given to HR.

As a sales manager, it would be better for him to study marketing.
