Designing a Welcome Kit: What Unique Items Can Make a New Hire Feel Special?

I have been asked to design a welcome kit. I would be grateful if I could get some ideas regarding what can be included over and above the normal documents.

Hi,

The welcome kit that we give new joiners contains stationery like a diary, notepad, pen, pencil, eraser, and sharpener. You can add more items depending on the nature of work employees do at your office.

Along with the basic daily use stationary items, you can include:

1. A printed copy of important telephone numbers of key members (this could be the extension numbers of HR, System admin, Admin, Accounts, payroll, etc).
2. A simplified direction map indicating some eating joints (in case your company does not have a cafeteria and there are a lot of non-local employees).
3. A personalized coffee mug/key bunch for the storage lockers, etc.
4. Visiting cards.
5. A quick view policy document (with details on where to find a more descriptive explanation of each policy).
6. If your budget permits, you could have a company logo printed backpack/T-shirt/Cap.
7. Most importantly, include a print with the following details:
- Allotted cubicle/cabin/desk number.
- PC number/Machine IP.
- Assigned email ID.
- And a Welcome card!!! (you can decide who signs off on the welcome card!)

Thanks,
Kamaljit
