Draft Labour Code on Wages, 2015

The Ministry of Labour & Employment, Central Government, through its circular on the website, has published a Draft Labour Code on Wages, 2015. It is proposed to adopt this law and replace four Central Labour Acts, namely the Payment of Wages Act, 1936, Minimum Wages Act, 1948, Payment of Bonus Act, 1965, and the Equal Remuneration Act, 1976.

The government has invited comments from concerned stakeholders on the above subject. This government initiative seems positive and aligns with the recommendations of the 2nd National Commission on Labour.
