Understanding the Limitations of Salary Increases Following a Significant Promotion-Related Hike

shraygupta
Hello, I received a promotion from the position of an agent to a team leader last May. Accompanying this promotion, my salary was increased from 15k to 23k. Now, as I request a further raise, they are arguing that the initial increase, which was over 50%, means I am not eligible for any more appraisals. Is this accurate?

Hey Shray,

My point of view is that different companies have different policies. You have to check this with your policy. By the rules, there is a rule of appraisal if you didn't lack in performances and you didn't have any warning letter.

Hope this may help you.

So when can I ask for a hike and for how much?
And what do the rules say? Could you please brief me on that?
Md. Iqbal Rabbani
I agree with the point of Mr. Gautam. However, an appraisal should determine whether a salary hike is applicable or not.

Mr. Gautam, can you please brief me on the rules of appraisal? I have not received any warning letter, and I also want to know how much appraisal I can ask for.

I explained to them that the promotion had been granted, so the salary increase was based on the job title. Therefore, I expect to receive a raise with this appraisal now.

Hey Shray,

The appraisal depends on the quality of work you are providing and also by the policy of the firm in which you are working. There should be an appraisal of a minimum of 10%, but again, read the policy of the company before discussing it. You can ask them the reason why they are not giving you the appraisal. The reason they have mentioned before was inappropriate. Your appraisal doesn't depend on your previous appraisal; it depends on the quality of work you are providing them and the output they are earning from your work. Stay calm.
