Construction Site Tragedy: What Are the Principal Employer's Responsibilities?

nrmbs2014@gmail.com
Dear Seniors, there was an accident that occurred at our construction site yesterday, and one of our contractor's employees died. In this scenario, what is the responsibility of the principal employer, and is there any information that needs to be provided to the labor department? Please suggest... waiting for your replies.

Thank you.

Certainly, yes. Since the matter involves the payment of compensation as per the Employees' Compensation Act, either by the contractor or by the principal employer, informing the Labor Department is a prerequisite in such cases. Usually, before removing the corpus from the accident site, the presence of a labor officer is required.

Ultimately, both are responsible. Firstly, the principal contractor. Secondly, the principal employer. Both are necessary actions.

You should inform the Factory Inspector as well as the Labour Inspector. The Factory Inspector will inspect the site.
