What To Do If Asked To Work On Sunday?

shruparab
We had promotions of the product hence we were asked to work on Sunday 25th & 26 th Jan. We were told you can take a day off later. But they never gave a day off.
Now again they have asked to work on Sunday 15
N m sure they dnt pay us double or will Gv us day off later.
Is this fare for a sales executive who works 9-9 in the market not to gt a Sunday as a holiday???
Please help

No its not good and legal if they are neither paying your extra bucks nor giving you comp off.
Talk to HR.Keep all details of conversation in records so that further u can use it for justice.
Good Luck.

Well, life is not fair.
So what actually is your question?
If you want to grow within your organisation, you have to show your willingness to work harder and meet the requirements. If you don't, you will find that others in your team are getting higher rewards and promotions.
As per law, anyone working on a weekly offor a holiday, are entitled to a compensatory off. You should ask your manager or your HR for the compensatory off which was promised to you.
Yes, you are entitled to double rate wages for working on a Sunday, if you are not a management staff. Whether you want to raise it with them or not is a call you have today

No employee should work continuously more than 10 days as per factories act. (I don't know about shops and establishments. But it will also say the same.) So, if you work on sunday or any other holiday, you will have to avail that off with in next 3 days.
For every 48 hours of work (8 hours x 6 days) you should have one weekly off. If your company is not following it and making you to work.. You can raise Industrial Dispute with Labour officer. They will take care.
Thanks,

Wow Abhay,
From which school did you complete your PG or graduation..U seems a bossy attitude person who is saying sales personnel are not human and they should work without leave.
Law clearly says that if a person works on week off then eiither he should get comp off/swap the leave with some other working day as per roster or they should be paid extra.

On special occasions like launch of new product staff/employees may have to work extra.
This is part of working life.
Accept it with grace and try for a compensatory off on some other day.
Legally things may be different, but enforcing it is different story.
Some compromise in life is part of our working life.
I agree it is unfair to expect a person to work continuously without breaks, but we need to find a via media.
