I am a female employee working in a company. I want to show medical bills for income tax. I believe the limit is up to Rs 15,000 per annum. Can I show medical bills of my father-in-law and mother-in-law as well?
Thank you for the information. I have been trying to search on Google about this too. Do you know where I can refer to be really sure? Is this mentioned in any tax law?
Medical reimbursement for self and family is exempt up to Rs. 15,000 under Section 17(viii) of the Income Tax Act. For this purpose, "family" has been defined under Section 10(5) as the spouse and children of the individual, and the parents, brothers, and sisters of the individual who are wholly or mainly dependent on the individual.
