Transitioning from HR Recruitment to Payroll: Can I Make the Leap Without Experience?

geeta09
I am working in a company as an HR executive. The recruitment part is major here, so I don't have much knowledge about payroll because there is no deduction of PF, ESI, etc. Now, I want to move into a generalist profile or payroll. Is it possible to join any company without any payroll experience? Will my recruiter experience count or not? Kindly suggest for my better future.

Thanks,
Geeta

Hi Geeta09, good afternoon! It depends on the HR hierarchy of the company you will be joining. Firstly, if they have many departments like Recruitment, Induction, Payroll, and Compliance, then you will gain experience in all HR-related activities through your colleagues.

Proving Yourself as a Payroll Executive

The most important part is how well you can prove yourself as a Payroll Executive when facing an interview for an HR Generalist profile. This means that even if you don't have direct experience, having basic knowledge about PF, ESIC, and PT, and showing your interest in the generalist profile can help you secure the job.

Don't worry, your experience as a recruiter will not be disregarded when you apply for an HR Generalist position. An HR Generalist role encompasses all the activities mentioned above, including recruitment.

All the best.

As an HR Executive-Generalist, one will have to be acquainted with payroll work. By learning, you will become an expert in the field. This will create more avenues for your career. Try to learn; you will succeed.
