Employee Absent for 10 Days: Should They Still Get Paid for the Festival Holiday?

laxmipapu@yahoo.in
I am Laxmi, working in the garment industry. One employee has been absent for the last 10 days, which is unauthorized. During these 10 days, there was a festival holiday, so the employee is eligible for the festival holiday.

Laxmi

No, he will not be entitled to the holiday payment. Mark him as absent.

If any employee takes leave without any approval, you can treat it as an absence, even for festival holidays, if any occur in between.

Festival Holiday Wages Eligibility

Festival holiday wages are payable only if the employee has worked either before or after the festival; otherwise, they will not be eligible for it.
KAVITHASEKAR HR
If any employee takes a long leave instead of Festival Holidays, it will be treated as an absence. We are not required to pay any wages for the holidays, even if it is an informed leave. However, if the employee works before and after Festival Holidays, they are eligible to receive holiday wages.

Please revert if you receive any further information regarding the same.

Regards,
Kavitha.
