How Can I Continue My EPS Contributions After Joining a New Company?

dev13
I understood that from Sep'14 onwards, new rules came in, and new joiners to the EPFO scheme will only get to join NPS, and EPS no longer applies. I happen to have a PF (and EPS) account from the past 6 years with EPFO in Bangalore. I joined a new company this month, and the Finance team at my new employer was asking me to take up NPS. However, I would like my EPS contributions to continue until my retirement as I see more benefits there in EPS since I will put in more years of service before retirement than with NPS.

I heard that I need to fill some "new form(s)" to carry forward EPS. Can you please guide me on the process?

Regards,
Dev

I found out that the revised Form 11 (declaration) should be submitted for the same. I am still checking with my employer to see how monthly contributions would still go to both EPF and EPS.

For the members who are newly joined to EPF and whose PF wages are above ₹15,000, they will not be a member of EPS. No diversion of 8.33% will go to EPS; all contributions will go to EPF only. If you are an old member of EPF, in Form 11, you have to mention your PF number and/or UAN, and EPS will be deducted; only the new employer has to map the UAN.

It is not mandatory to join NPS; it is optional. Even if you are a member of EPS, you can still contribute to NPS.
