Seeking Advice: Can ESIC Cover Medical Costs Without a Referral for Heart Treatment?

satyajitsingh
I have a query regarding ESIC. If an employee has his father's treatment done in a hospital without an ESIC referral, such as heart treatment, how can he get medical reimbursement from the ESIC? Is he entitled to receive medical benefits or not?

Awaiting your response... URGENT.

Referral Process for ESIC Medical Reimbursement

1. The ESI Dispensary to which you or your father (as a family member) is attached (the details of family members are available in the ESIC Identity Card issued as a Family Identity Card) is the authorized office to refer any insured person or their family member to another referral hospital for treatment.

2. Therefore, in my opinion, if any of your family members are admitted to any hospital due to an emergency, you may contact the concerned ESI Dispensary with the admission papers from the hospital and your/family ESIC Identity Card. Request the Doctor Incharge to refer the patient to a hospital that they consider appropriate according to their instructions/policy.

3. To receive reimbursement without referring the patients through the ESI Dispensary, in my opinion, will not be accepted by the authorities concerned.
