Evaluating Software Engineers: What Objective Criteria Do You Use?

Dear All,

I would like to understand from fellow HR professionals how they evaluate a Software Engineer or IT Professional. What parameters do they use? I am looking for objective parameters—something that can actually be calculated—not subjective parameters such as behavior, team management, attitude, knowledge, etc.

1. Will he stay at least for 2 years?

2. Is there a scope for a person to adopt new technology?

3. Is there a scope for developing a person?

4. Will he be suitable for the company's environment?

5. Can he technically take the company forward?
