HR Policies & Procedures That A Company Should Follow

HrAlex
Hi All,

This is Alex. I have been appointed as HR in a fresh company which is into IT services. Please help me with all the HR policies to be maintained in a company, as well as the policies to be shared with employees. Management is asking me to provide documentation about the exact policies and procedures that a company needs to follow. It's like after getting registered; what are the policies that a company needs to adopt regarding the PF, ESI, insurances, and other policies which are mandatory to follow. Also, what should be the basic salary, HRA, etc.

Please provide me with your valuable suggestions and ideas by which I can get good stuff to suggest to my management in following healthy policies.

Hi Alex,

As you have joined the new IT company, the first thing you need to do is familiarize yourself with the company profile, vision, mission, objectives, etc. Based on these, you will be required to develop HR policies to help achieve them.

Subsequently, it is important to identify the types of individuals who will be valuable assets to your organization, especially given that it is a new establishment. Once you have identified these individuals, you can tailor policies and procedures to best suit your company's needs.

Wishing you all the best.

Hi Alex,

Ur query reg. Framing HR Policies.

HR Manager has to draft HR Policies after GM/MD provides details of Company Profile, Vision, Mission, Objectives, Total Manpower required, Positions, Levels/Grades, Salary Bands, Benefits, Facilities, etc.

HRM needs to ask GM/MD:
a. What Policies are to be adopted;
b. Whether HRM should draft or hire a Consultant and start as approved by GM.

For a Big Company with 100+ employees, it is better to hire a Consultant with over 20 years of experience in labor-intensive Manufacturing Companies/Establishments who has handled various HR situations. The Consultant must formulate Policies in the best interest of the Company, its employees, complying with Labor Acts, compared to similar Companies in the neighborhood as HR Policies will impact the Company's Reputation, its employees' Morale, and Retention.

I have worked for 30 years in HR, IR, Administration - across 7 Manufacturing Companies with over 3000 employees. I can assist/provide A to Z policies for Discussion.
