Gratuity Calculation Confusion: Is It Based on Gross, Net, or Basic+DA Salary?

sakshi robin
Hi All, My question is with reference to the formula stated above - W x Y x 15/26. Is the 15 days' salary the gross salary or net salary that we are talking about? Or is it Basic+DA?

Thanks

Gratuity Calculation

Gratuity calculation is as follows: {(Basic + DA) / 26} x 15 x Number of completed years of service and 6 months for any excess part thereof. The gratuity is subject to a maximum ceiling of Rs. 10 lakh and is payable upon superannuation, resignation, retirement, death, or disablement. Eligibility requires at least 5 years of service; however, a recent judgment indicates that 4 months and 240 days are sufficient for claiming gratuity.
