How Do I Calculate My Gratuity for 6 Years of Service at a Private Company?

chandrashekar1977
I joined a private limited company in February 2008, and my last day was October 31, 2014. My basic salary was 4890. Could you please help me calculate how much gratuity I am entitled to receive? Thank you for your assistance.

In 2008, which month do you mean? Also, what was your last basic salary?

Gratuity Calculation

The gratuity calculation is as follows: Last Basic salary divided by 26, then multiplied by 15, and finally multiplied by the number of years in service.

Note: If your service duration is 6 years, 6 months, and 1 day or more, it should be calculated as 7 years of service.

If your last basic salary is ₹4,890, the calculation as per the Gratuity Act would be: 4890/26*15*7. You will receive ₹19,748.

From February 2008 to January 2014, you have completed 6 years. The period from January to October 2014 does not qualify as a year since the working days do not amount to 240. Hence, you will get gratuity that should be calculated as follows: 4890 / 26 days = Rs. 188.08. You will get gratuity for 90 days (at 15 days for 6 years): 188.08 * 90 = Rs. 16927.20.
