Curious About Tamilnadu's 2015 Holiday List? Let's Discuss How and When It's Announced

Hi Friends, as of now, the list of holidays has not been declared by the government. Do you have any idea when it will be announced? I usually check and download it from the TNgov website. I would like to understand clearly how holidays are declared in the company, such as mandatory/festival holidays, etc.

If there is any Government Order (GO) or rule regarding this, could you please share it with me? Alternatively, if anyone has documentation on this, please do share it.

Thank you for your support. I just want to clearly understand how to prepare the annual list of holidays for IT companies in Tamil Nadu. As per my knowledge, Republic Day on January 26th, May Day on May 1st, Independence Day on August 15th, and Gandhi Jayanti on October 2nd are mandatory holidays.

I am unsure about the number of days that are mandatory for festival holidays. I have noticed that most companies have around 5 festival holidays, making the total per year 9. Is this number restricted, or can it be decided as per the company's preference? Is there any government order or process mentioned anywhere regarding this matter?

Yes, those five festival holidays should be matched with your 'Form III approval', obtained under the TN Industrial Establishment (National & Festival) Holidays Act. If you wish to change any festival holiday, you will need to obtain fresh 'Form III approval' from the Labor department.
