Is Wipro's Demand for Payment to Release My PF Legitimate or Against Policy?

musak
I worked with Wipro in 2010 for 7 months and I resigned, submitting my ID card. However, it was an on-the-spot resignation, and I didn't serve the notice period. Now, Wipro wants me to pay some amount if I want to get my PF. Could you please explain if this is a company policy, or should they stamp and forward my PF documents to EPFO for processing without any such hassles?

Please provide full details regarding your on-the-spot resignation. Why are they seeking dues from you? Will these dues be payable to them by you? This strategic approach is being taken by WIPRO. Kindly ensure all relieving formalities are complied with, especially if any are pending on your side.

PF Withdrawal Process and Employer Control

PF is not under the control of any employer, not even Wipro. There are ways to withdraw PF that have been explained in this forum many times over. Just use the search command, and you will get your answer.

I resigned on the spot because of a new job that I got. Wipro is asking me to pay two months' salary to process the PF and relieving documents. I understand that the relieving documents will not be released; however, I am confused about the PF withdrawal as they aren't ready to process it without me paying them.

There is enough information on this matter on the forum. Please take the trouble of reading the previous threads.

Dear Maheshji, I know sudden resignation is not advisable. I did it because I had just graduated from college and did not realize at that time that it would impact my resume in the future. However, is it acceptable for an organization to take such action (pay the notice period salary to release the PF)? If I approach them, they ask for a cheque. It is fine with me even now if they do not provide an experience letter, but my main concern is regarding the PF. Please advise.

That is completely wrong. Please refer to the previous discussion on the subject. There are procedures provided for transfer and withdrawal without the approval of the employer.
