Can You Really Accumulate Privilege Leave During Probation? Seeking Clarification

bsd
Hi,

I have a question related to Earned Leave (EL) or Privilege Leave (PL) during the probation period. To the best of my knowledge, PL accumulates during the probation period. The only limitation is that we may not be able to take it on paper. However, some companies allow leave to be taken during the probation period with approval.

Now, according to one major company, leaves will not accumulate during probation. They will start accumulating after the probation period. Can you please confirm this?

Dear bsd,

Statutorily, even if an employee is on probation, CL/SL can be extended to the extent they are eligible. As for EL/PL, it is up to the company to either give or not. Hope this clarifies your query.

Samba Siva.

Please review the leave rules of your organization to understand the actual status, as practices vary from one organization to another.

Leave Accumulation During Probation

In my organization, Earned Leaves and Half Pay Leaves accumulate during the probation period on a six-month basis. Specifically, 11 Earned Leaves are encashable, 4 are non-encashable, and 10 Half Pay Leaves are accrued. However, probationers are not entitled to leave encashment.

Thank you
